Happy Gender Equality Day

    Happy women's day!! I just can't understand why do we need such a day. Do we celebrate Men's day with the same pomp and show? Honestly ask yourselves, how many of you actually know when do we celebrate Men's day     (obviously without the help of Google). In this century when we proudly call ourselves feminist or a person who believes in equality do we actually follow these ideologies . Feminism by definition says an ideology believing in equal rights for men and women both. Remember for men and women both.
     It is very unfortunate to hear that not a single country out of 195 countries in the world can proudly say that it has received complete gender equality. Is this term only made for books? Every time when a boy cries we often hear people saying that boys don't cry, so is crying limited and restricted to girls only? Whenever a women rides a bike we often give her a weird look as if she is doing some extraordinary task. I won't write much about it because this is the only thing that we hear when we speak about gender equality. 
        If we believe that by giving special provisions to women we bring gender equality then it's time for us to change our thoughts. Feminism does not mean man hating . If we give special provisions only for women then what about men. What kind of equality is this in which women are given special provisions but men do not. The ultimate message which I want to convey is why do we need special days for women or men. Why don't we celebrate gender equality day. There is no need to specially celebrate women's day or men's day. Let us celebrate every day as gender equality day and actually mean it. Let us bring the real equality by bringing both men and women on equal platforms. This can be only done if we treat both the sexes equally.No special provisions for women and no special provisions for men. But  FROM TODAY I AM CELEBRATING GENDER EQUALITY DAY, THE DAY WHEN I PLEDGE NOT TO DISCRIMINATE ANYONE ON THE BASIS OF THEIR GENDER.
